Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
T.R.A.P.A. envisions a world where survivors of trauma are empowered with resilience, support, and advocacy. Our organization is committed to fostering healing, promoting awareness, and driving change to ensure a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive in a trauma-free environment. Our collective efforts aim to break the cycle of violence and trauma, paving the way for a world where respect, dignity, and wellbeing are universal rights.
Our Story
The decision of three women of color, all United States veterans, to launch a nonprofit organization in New Jersey focusing on issues such as sexual and domestic violence, veteran affairs and trauma recovery, stems from a combination of their unique personal experiences, professional backgrounds, and a shared recognition of an unmet need within
underserved and marginalized communities.
With over 35 years of combined experience, these women bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, insight, and empathy to this initiative.
The reasons for their decision can be understood through various lenses:
-
Personal Experience and Empathy
-
Professional Expertise
-
Recognition of a Service Gap
-
Empowerment through Representation
-
Commitment to Change
-
Building Community and Resilience
